Hello, everyone, and thank you for your patience during the long period of quiet. Rest assured that though we have been quiet, we have been hard at work on the ruleset and what will come next. Let us begin!
First Dreamscape will be at GenCon 2025 from July 31st to August 3rd at the First Exposure Playtest Hall again, with a more refined set of rules. We will have several new volunteers as well as returning ones. Look for us in our Dreamscape shirts featuring the Undead Gunslinger and cover art for the rule book. We may even have a surprise for you!
Second, over the coming weeks, we will post articles on Facebook and the main webpage detailing parts of the ruleset and what’s in store for our players. These will be weekly posts until the launch of the alpha ruleset, which will be free for all to download.
Thirdly, news about the launch and our new plans. We will be launching a Kickstarter at the start of GenCon. That’s right, we will have a live Kickstarter during Gencon and through August. Anyone who previously preordered the rulebook or a little town of Brea need not worry; Dreamscape Gaming will be crediting you with an equivalent Kickstarter pledge tier. This is our way of saying sorry for the delay.
Lastly, we still have a ways to go, but we are nearing the beta stage. Once formatting and edits are done, the Alpha rules should be up by mid-May. Then, during the Kickstarter, all pledges of all levels will get the Beta rules to help us refine and improve the game.
Why Kickstarter? Well, to be honest, it’s to judge interest. We are a small game studio with one writer, one designer, and one developer. We have many ideas and projects that are in development. Grimdark West’s rules system is designed to be our company’s central system for all our RPG lines. In addition, we have two board games, one of which is in end-stage development. Doing a Kickstarter will tell us if we are focusing on the right project.
Being a small studio sometimes throws us curve balls, and we just have to bat the best average we can. So, we apologize for the long silence and look forward to the journey ahead. Let’s ride!
